Creeds are minimized

The result of such perspectives takes different forms.  Creeds are minimized or ignored altogether for a “no creed but Christ” approach, or a generic sort of church identity that allows us to be known as “X Church,” but not as “X Reformed Church,” or any other adjective between the “X” and “Church,” except for maybe the word “Community.”  Better it is, so goes the argument, to keep things simple.  Less is more.  No need to confuse.  Does being a confessional church really divide?  Does a confessional church really confuse?  Does a confessional church really inhibit the spreading of the gospel?  I reply to such questions with the five main reasons that confessions and creeds have been written over the years—both the universal creeds and the Reformed confessions.
