Birthday in Two Days

This is shameful to have to admit, but for dinner last night I ate something that I would almost never eat. After work, I stopped at my massage therapist’s studio for a massage. Her door was locked which is very unusual. So I knocked. There was a little bit of scurrying around, I could hear, and then she opened the door. Her studio was dark and on the desk was a piece of cake with a burning candle in it. She was singing “Happy Birthday“. I was very touched, even when I tried to blow out the candle and it was one of those trick things that re-ignited. So we had the massage and she wrapped up the piece of cake and I took it home, thinking I would save it until my real birthday. But there is no peace in my house if there is chocolate there. So I whipped out a fork and ate the piece of cake. It was fantastic….chocolate cheese cake with a really thick chocolate icing. I couldn’t even finish it; it was so rich and so good. And I couldn’t eat anything else for dinner after that either. Plus, with all that caffeine, it took me a couple of hours to fall asleep. But it was worth it. That’ll go down as one of my best dinners in a while.
