A Pretty Good Start

When I woke up I was amazed I slept over 8 hours. This is rare. I usually get 3-5 hours of sleep a night and sometimes none at all. Being thankful, I felt refreshed and ready to look for work with vigor. I lay there making plans when the phone rang. It was a pre-interview for a job that I applied for a few days earlier. The job was for a porter position which turned out to be more like a handyman job. The entire lady really wanted to know is if I considered myself outgoing because I would be dealing with all their tenants in their shopping center. I told her I preferred to think of myself as positive and motivating. It took her a second then she said “Oh, that’s good.” I think I took her by surprise. Did I have any questions she asked? I asked what the rate was. She replied it was $15/hr and I would be contracted out. I asked her if I would need a license since not having one has been a barrier to employment due to a child support hold. She said no with what sounded like a smile. Perfect. I was real chipper after that. I got ready for work, which is looking for work, fed the fish and the dog, whistling all the while and hit the road running. I applied for several more jobs online at the local university and after exhausting most of the available websites for this area I began turking with a smile. I am still smiling.
